Size / Measurement Guide

"I found a pair of shoes that I liked, but they didn't fit."

"I liked the design, but I was disappointed that I didn't fit in any size."

... Have you ever had such an experience? Why is this happening?

That's because shoe size isn't just about foot length, it's also about foot thickness. The size of Japanese shoes are displayed based on JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) in foot length (foot length) and thickness (foot circumference), or (foot length) and (foot width).

(Excerpt from the website of the General Incorporated Association Foot, Shoes and Health Council)

The size of the shoe is expressed by the length of the foot and the circumference of the foot or the length of the foot and the width of the foot. (Shoe size JIS S 5037)

Foot length

The distance from the "heel point" at the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe when standing upright on a flat and horizontal surface with both feet apart and distributing your weight evenly on both feet.

BALL GIRTH

The distance from the "heel point" at the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe when standing upright on a flat and horizontal surface with both feet apart and distributing your weight evenly on both feet.

Foot Width

The foot width is the length of the foot across the widest part of the foot (usually across the ball of the foot). It is measured while standing feet apart in the same posture as measuring "Foot Length".

Foot Shape

What is your foot shape?

Your foot shape can be used as a guideline to help you select the right kind of shoes, but keep in mind that it is not definite and shoe fitting is determined by many factors.

Size Chart

In Japanese size system, the foot length is displayed in cm(centimeter), and foot thickness and width is often displayed as EE / EEE / EEEE (the more E ー the wider).
